Our Story

I’m Paul, the owner and builder behind PB Timepiece.

My interest in watches goes back to when I was a kid and first remember holding my dad’s Seiko. There was something about the weight of it and the way it felt on the wrist that stuck with me. As I got older, that interest grew, but PB Timepiece really started with a watch I had pictured in my head for a while.

My wife ended up gifting me that exact piece, custom built by another modder in San Jose. I fell in love with it, and it made me want to try building one myself.

I bought the tools, ordered some parts, and quickly realized it wasn’t nearly as easy as it looked. I bent hands, broke movements, scratched dials, and came pretty close to giving up. But I kept at it. Every mistake taught me something, and eventually I built a watch I was proud enough to wear.

I started selling a couple of my builds locally around Sacramento and used the money from each sale to buy parts for the next ones. I sold those, bought more parts, and just kept repeating the process. Little by little, I was able to build more designs, carry more inventory, and eventually create all of the collections you see on PB Timepiece today.

Along the way, I tested parts from a lot of different suppliers and learned what worked and what didn’t. I’ve thrown out cases, bracelets, dials, and other parts simply because I wasn’t happy with the quality. I’ve always had one simple rule: if I wouldn’t wear it myself, I’m not going to sell it to someone else.

For those unfamiliar with Seiko mods, they’re custom-built watches powered by genuine Seiko movements and assembled using aftermarket cases, dials, hands, and bracelets. Many of my designs are inspired by iconic luxury watches, giving you that familiar style with a reliable and proven Seiko movement at the heart of the watch.

Today, I still personally assemble every PB Timepiece here in Sacramento, California. There’s no assembly line behind the brand. Every watch that leaves PB Timepiece is assembled, inspected, packaged, and shipped by me.

PB Timepiece started by serving customers locally around Sacramento, and that’s still a big part of the business today. As the brand continues to grow online, I want to keep the same personal approach I had when I sold those first few watches locally.

At the end of the day, I’m not trying to make PB Timepiece feel like some huge watch company. I’m a watch enthusiast who started with a set of tools, a lot of mistakes, and a desire to build something I’d be proud to wear myself.

What started with one watch from my wife has grown into PB Timepiece, and I’m proud to personally stand behind every piece I build.
